Polyamide Films

Even monolayer, polyamide films are barrier to gases (oxygene, carbon dioxid).

However, polyamide barrier film performances are slightly lower than EVOH. Like EVOH, PA is permeable to water vapor.
Polyamide has an excellent thermal stability due to a high melting point and a very good thermoformability. It withstands steam at temperature up to 140°C.

Polyamide films have also a good resistance to abrasion and shocks.

Main applications are vacuum packing, processed meat, fish, and cheese.

PA/EVOH/PE

BAR451 is a coextruded film PA/EVOH/PE. Polyamide enables to reaches a good barrier to gas, it also enables excellent mechanical properties. EVOH is an excellent gas barrier while PE is an excellent\sealant. It can be used as a lamination film or in bag industry for food, medical or industrial application.

Applications : this film is largely used for wrapping sausages, uncooked bread, quenelle. Thanks to PA, it has a good resistance to abrasion.
